A warm welcome for our 5th Grade French Passerelle students! ☕
Our French Passerelles students were treated to a delicious French-style breakfast: mini croissants, pains au chocolat, a fresh fruit platter, and hot drinks. 🥐🍊 Their joy grew even more when they each received a special goody bag filled with small gifts: a water bottle, a badge, and the much-loved IFS “Coq” keychain. 🐓
The French Passerelle programme at IFS is designed to support non-French speaking students. It provides additional support in French language during school hours. This immersive programme, often started in primary school, continues into secondary and is offering to international students a smooth transition into the French curriculum while building confidence and fostering a love of learning.
Their teachers were delighted to welcome them and encourage each student to embrace this exciting journey. 📚

Mexican Karaoke & Dance at IFS! 🇲🇽🎶
We were delighted to witness a vibrant celebration at Amphitheatre 3000 organized by our Spanish Department. Students from Première took the stage with their teachers for a fun and festive karaoke of Mexican songs. 💃
Halfway through the show, the talented folkloric dancers from @mitote_sg joined to surprise the audience and the students with an authentic Mexican performance full of rhythm, color, and tradition.
“Les cultures ne s’opposent pas, elles se rencontrent.”
Tell us, what’s your all-time favorite karaoke song?

Building Respectful Friendships at IFS 🌟
At IFS, the Counselling Centre (2C) plays an active role in supporting our students’ social and emotional development. Recently, our counsellors visited the Grade 6 classes to lead workshops on “Respectful Friendship & Communication with Empathy.” 💬
Through engaging activities, students:
🤝 Learned how to build and recognize healthy friendships
💡 Reflected on what respect and empathy mean in daily life
💬 Exchanged kind compliments with classmates
🌍 Explored how to live and grow together as a community
These sessions are an opportunity for students to strengthen their relationships, gain new perspectives, and develop the social-emotional skills that will guide them throughout their school journey and beyond. 💙

Lights, Camera, Action! 🎬🌟
Our Primary School students (CE2) had the exciting opportunity to step into the IFS Media Room – a professional studio space equipped with microphones, cameras, green screens, studio lights, editing screens, and headsets. 🎧
As part of this short project, each student introduced themselves on camera, guided by their digital instructor.
💡 What they learned through this experience:
• Building self-confidence when speaking in front of a camera
• Exploring the basics of audio and video production
• Discovering video editing and digital storytelling
• Strengthening communication and public speaking skills
• Experiencing the value of teamwork in a media project
A fun and meaningful way to express themselves, collaborate, and create while discovering the behind-the-scenes world of media production. 🎥

Off to Malaysia! 🇲🇾✈️
From September 29 to October 3, our first group of 5emes students will embark on an exciting educational journey filled with cultural, historical, and natural discoveries. 🌿🏠🌧️
To get ready, they had the privilege of meeting Serge Jardin, a historian-geographer and author who lived in Malaysia for over 20 years. 📚
During an engaging French class session, Serge Jardin introduced them to:
📖 Three key texts on palm oil plantations, traditional Malaysian houses, and the Malaysian rainforest.
🌏 Comparisons between Malaysia and France: stilt houses, local building materials, unique flora and fauna, tropical climate…
💻 An interactive approach using Chromebooks to explore new vocabulary and fully understand the texts.
Thanks to this session, our students are arriving in Malaysia with the right tools to observe, ask questions, and truly appreciate everything they will see firsthand. 🧭
💡 A perfect example of how classroom learning and real-world experiences come together!

Books & Games made their way to Laos! 📚🎲
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community and the commitment of IFS Groupe Humanitaire, NK Seeds has received the books, magazines and board games collected on our campus last May 2025.
The Nong Khiaw center officially opened its doors, and children are already enjoying your donations! 📦
Three English-learning schools, gathering around 200 children, are now benefiting from these resources, with a fourth school opening soon. Some of the books will also support students in Luang Prabang as they begin learning French.
A heartfelt thank you to all students, parents, teachers, and IFS community for their generosity, and congratulations to the Groupe Humanitaire (5èmes & 6èmes students) for leading the collection campaign. Books that connect, games that unite: your donations are opening doors to learning for hundreds of children! 🌟

A Night of Opportunities at the Lion City International University Fair 2025 🌍
What an incredible evening filled with inspiring conversations at the IFS Secondary Gymnasium!
More than 50 esteemed international universities from around the world – including the United States, Canada, UK, France, Australia, Japan and more – came together right here in Singapore to connect with our Lycée students and their families.
💡 Highlights of the evening:
✅ Students and parents explored a world of choices, discovering universities and programmes across Europe, North America, Asia and beyond.
✅ Personalised advice was shared by academic advisors, helping clarify application processes and future study plans.
✅ Visitors learned about unique programmes, scholarships and financial aid opportunities, gaining valuable insights to support their higher education journey.
The excellence of the French curriculum gives students the academic foundation and global recognition to access top universities worldwide, and this fair was truly a game-changer for students exploring their post-bac options, helping them make informed decisions about studying abroad. 🌟
A big thank you to all the university representatives, students, parents, and staff who made this event such a success! 💙

AES Girls’ Rugby is Back! 💪🏉
This year, more than 30 girls have signed up for contact rugby at IFS – with both U18 (High School) and Middle School players.💥
First training sessions kicked off in great spirits, featuring fun games, strength-building exercises, and a gentle, safe reintroduction to contact. 🌟
In January 2026, all teams (girls & boys - U18 and U15) will participate in the Asian Prozap’ tournament in Kuala Lumpur. 👏
Joining the team is the perfect occasion to build skills and share the thrill of the game.

National Assessments in Primary School 📊
Since last year, national assessments have been introduced in all primary schools, from CP to CM2. These beginning-of-year evaluations in French and Mathematics help teachers identify each student’s skills and needs, and track their progress.
🎯 Three Key Objectives
1️⃣ Provide teachers with clear benchmarks to better understand each student’s progress and enrich their teaching practices.
2️⃣ Offer local education authorities with aggregated indicators (without names or personal data) to guide and adapt their educational strategies.
3️⃣ Supply national data to measure the performance of the education system over time and enable international comparisons.
✨ What is expected from students?
✅ To complete exercises based on skills and lessons learned last year; familiar concepts they have already practiced.
✅ No preparation at home is required; children do not need to study.
✅ The assessments take place in a calm and supportive environment, respecting each child’s pace.
🌱 A Benefit for Students
These regular assessments also help students become more comfortable with testing situations. By getting used to the format in a familiar, low-stakes environment, they will be less stressed when more significant exams come later in their academic journey.
For CP students, a mid-year assessment in January will provide an even more precise follow-up, especially in reading and numeracy. Thanks to these evaluations, teachers can adapt their teaching strategies and ensure that all students master the fundamental knowledge needed for success in secondary school.

Two Inspiring Conferences at IFS 📢
IFS was proud to host two insightful conferences for our families and staff, addressing crucial topics for student well-being and success:
🔹 Your Child’s Well-being is Our Priority: Stand Together Against Bullying
👉 Led by Marie-Charlotte Clerf, psychologist and certified trainer, and member of Professor Jean-Pierre Bellon’s pioneering team behind the “Shared Concern Method.”
Parents gained practical tools and insights into how bullying can be recognized and prevented, and learned more about the PHARE program currently in place at IFS.
🔹 How to Learn Effectively?
👉 Presented by Frédéric Guilleray, cognitive science specialist and experienced trainer.
Families discovered the pillars of effective learning and explored practical strategies to strengthen focus, memory, and comprehension.
💡 These conferences highlight IFS’s commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and thriving learning environment in close partnership with our families.

Loose Parts Portraits – Creativity in Action! 🎨
Our CP students explored art in a whole new way by creating self-portraits using wood bases and everyday loose parts, bolts, nuts, washers, gaskets, and screws!
This hands-on activity invited them to:
🔍 Identify facial features and decide how to represent them
🛠️ Discover the textures and properties of different materials
🌟 See ordinary objects in unexpected, imaginative ways
🎯 Express their individuality through choice and design
From tiny bolts turned into sparkling eyes to keys transformed into wide, talkative smiles, each portrait tells a unique story. One child even captured a missing tooth with carefully placed pieces!
These inventive creations show how observation, imagination, and problem-solving come together to transform everyday materials into extraordinary art. 💡✨
