IFS DAY – 4TH FEBRUARY 2022
The International French School (Singapore) celebrated IFS Day, a celebration of the brand, values, vision and mission of the school.
It has been two years since the school relaunched its new identity as the International French School (Singapore), IFS.
Formerly Lycée Français de Singapour, the new name, is part of a broader strategy to promote the French national curriculum and a unique multilingual education to an increasingly diverse student population.
IFS offers a learning experience that blends culture, structure et passion.
On this occasion and to mark this anniversary, all IFS students and staff were encouraged to wear their “IFS – Open Your Mind” t-shirts in order to gather around the school’s colours for this exciting commemoration.
The school was decorated with giant, glowing balloons in IFS colours, and special branded areas were set up for students and staff to take pictures on this memorable day.
For this event, H.E. Mr Marc Abensour, Ambassador of France to Singapore, sent his greetings to the school: “It is my great pleasure to celebrate IFS Day 2022. […] I would like to sincerely thank all the families that have decided to trust IFS in these challenging times. […] I wish all the students, teachers, staff and families a joyful IFS Day 2022!”
He also highlighted the continued internationalisation of the school, “with initiatives such as the Chinese language option at the ‘baccalauréat’ and the implementation of the French international ‘baccalauréat’ from September 2022.”
Mr Jean-Marc Deromedi, president of the Executive Committee, said, “IFS is a community where close to 3 thousand students of over 60 nationalities get a full French curriculum topped with our academic and ideological values. Academic values of excellence being International and modern
Ideological values of collaboration and well-being […] This celebration of our values is a commemoration of our quest for excellence!”
IFS Principal Mr David Binan remarked, “IFS Day is a celebration of the school’s identity, values, and mission and a celebration of the unique educational offering we have for expatriate families in Singapore. Our bilingual international pedagogical approach to education has its foundation in and is driven by the highly reputable French education programme and approaches to teaching and learning. With a nationally set curriculum, proven teaching and learning methods, high academic standards, and a structured approach to learning, more and more international families consider the French national system their choice of international education. Our results speak for themselves, and the achievements of our students year on year, both academically and personally, are cause for celebration on IFS Day.”
