From November 27th to December 2nd, 2023, the 7th edition of the Week of French Schools Around the World was an incredible triumph centred around the theme “Learn, Engage, Flourish: Sport for All.”
In the build-up to the upcoming Olympics, this year’s theme echoed as a vibrant call, signifying the collective dedication of every student. As the world gears up for the games, sports emerge as a dynamic conduit for learning, social involvement, and personal growth.
Beyond the Classroom: IFS Unleashes the Power of Sports for Values, Wellness, and Community Bonds
The impact of sports education transcends conventional classrooms. It’s about imbibing values like respect and resilience, lessons that extend far beyond the field. At the International French School (IFS), an expansive program awaited secondary students, weaving together subjects from science to history interwoven with sports-related themes. Meanwhile, primary students revelled in a dedicated week promoting a healthy lifestyle, embracing meditation, nutrition, and friendly sports competitions.
But it wasn’t just about participation – it was about fostering inclusivity, knitting stronger connections among students. Sports emerged as the catalyst for individual growth and community unity.
Revitalising Health: IFS Elementary’s Dynamic Week of Holistic Living
At the elementary level, the Week of Healthy Living took centre stage, meticulously crafted by IFS teachers to promote a holistic lifestyle. The week brimmed with educational sessions on nutrition and pulsated with physical activities, including spirited cross-country events. Each morning started with “Wake up, Shake up” sessions, infusing vibrant energy through invigorating exercises. Jump rope contests, pétanque, archery, and soothing meditation sessions featuring “sound healing” for physical and mental well-being adorned the week.
Secondary Showcase: Sports, Inspiration, and Academic Fusion at IFS
Meanwhile, at the secondary level, a diverse array of sports-centric educational activities coloured this period. Students delved into research projects, drawing inspiration from the captivating “Sciences en Bulles” exhibition. Simultaneously, animation drawing sessions explored sports-related themes while showcasing portraits celebrating Paralympic medalists from our countries. The campus buzzed with the spirit of cross-country days, amplifying engagement through diverse sports activities.
