Into the Wild: Tackling Plastic Pollution and Protecting Our Oceans

IFS warmly invites you to join us for a screening of Plastic Odyssey, followed by an insightful Q&A session with Luc des Vallières, Head of Partnerships at Plastic Odyssey, based here in Singapore.

As part of Earth Week, and organised by our passionate students and teachers, this event aims to shed light on the urgency of tackling ocean pollution. Plastic Odyssey follows three dedicated Frenchmen—Simon Bernard, Alexandre Dechelotte, and Bob Vrignaud—on their groundbreaking journey to collect and recycle plastic from the world’s oceans.

This powerful film dives deep into the innovative efforts to combat ocean plastic, showing not only the scale of the problem but also the incredible solutions emerging from around the world. One of the documentary’s key missions focuses on the difficult task of cleaning Henderson Island, where the local biodiversity is at risk due to the overwhelming presence of plastic pollution.

In conjunction with this inspiring screening, we are honoured to present Luc des Vallières, a renowned marine conservation expert and the founder of the Ocean Preservation Initiative, who will join us for an insightful Q&A session following the film. With over 20 years of experience in marine ecology and sustainable ocean management, Luc has been at the forefront of numerous ocean conservation projects worldwide. His expertise and passion for protecting marine biodiversity will provide invaluable insight into how we can contribute to saving our oceans.
