ALICE IN THE WONDERBOX
AN ORIGINAL THEATER PRODUCTION EXPLORING THE REAL AND THE VIRTUAL, FREELY INSPIRED BY LEWIS CARROLL’S WORK
What mirror would Alice cross today?
Sara Mangano and Pierre-Yves Massip trained at the International School of Mimodrama in Paris, Marcel Marceau. Before creating their own company, the two artists collaborated with the French master. Their works centre on physical dramaturgy, seeking to reflect the turbulence of the contemporary world poetically.

Public: all ages
About the Play:
ALICE is a young person in a constant state of transformation: her self-image, her relationships, her body—all are changing and evolving as she searches for direction. Alice is also an avid internet user (like many of her peers), where she believes she finds refuge from the real world. Yet this Wonderbox, where she spends her days, is even more fluid and unstable than her reality: avatars, fake identities, misinformation, the charming prince or the ultimate challenge that turns into a deadly trap, the harassment of others’ gazes, and endless comments…
Freely inspired by Lewis Carroll’s work, the audience will meet a mischievous, enigmatic Cheshire Cat, a clumsy yet charming White Prince, and other strange, mutant characters. As Alice crosses the mirror/screen of her phone, she embarks on an initiatory journey where her identity wavers, and the boundaries between real and virtual become blurred.
Timeless existential questions are confronted by the growing challenges of augmented reality, transhumanism, and artificial intelligence.
Will she escape this upside-down world?
A post-performance discussion with the actors will be hosted by the Terminale Grade 12 students.
