French Memories of Malaysia presents Malaysia through the keen eyes of this professor who fell in love with the country, paying tribute to it throughout his bibliography. Beyond a simple declaration of love, Serge Jardin takes us through every nook and cranny of Malaysia in his various works, particularly in his latest book.
As Laurence Huret accurately portrays in Le Petit Journal: “Historian and geographer Serge Jardin provides us with an exceptional and different perspective on the French presence in Malaysia, from the late 16th century to the present day. This collection of 88 epics, individual or collective, traces the extraordinary adventures of the French, led by chance, who settled in various corners of the country. The destinies of these women and men—entrepreneurs, missionaries, military personnel, or simple travelers—offer a captivating human and historical tableau shaped by their fortunes and misfortunes.”
The meeting between Serge Jardin, Maxime Pilon, and Danièle Weiler will be an opportunity for these three authors to share their perspectives on the French presence in the two neighbouring countries.
High school Terminale students in charge of this conference look forward to welcoming you on December 12 in Amphitheater 3000 at 7:00 PM.

In 1988, he founded his travel agency catering to the French and ‘incentive’ market. In 2004, he married a Melakan and co-manages a bed-and-breakfast, The Snail House, a restored old townhouse.
