At 7:30 PM
In Amphitheatre 2900
Audience: 14 years old and above
Synopsis:
Maxime and Emile are on the path to obtaining their culinary arts diploma. Maxime, the small nervous one, and Emile, the tall shy one, come from different backgrounds – one suburbanite, the other a little bourgeois. Despite being 15 years old and seemingly worlds apart, they forge an unbreakable bond.
Their meeting is akin to a friendly lightning bolt, a protective bubble guiding them through the trials and tribulations of their culinary education. As they mature into adulthood, they navigate the challenging terrain of the food industry together.
Their journey spans two decades, leading them through a variety of culinary establishments – from a humble roadside diner to a trendy bistro, a dilapidated trattoria, and even the raucous stands of a football stadium. They harbour dreams of ascending to the ranks of acclaimed chefs, yearning to grace the kitchens of Michelin-starred restaurants. Throughout it all, they remain steadfast companions.
However, as time passes, their bond begins to fray, eroded by the unforgiving nature of the gourmet restaurant world, where survival often demands sacrificing one’s humanity to the relentless grind.
What fate awaits their once unbreakable friendship?
About the Compagnie du Chemin Ordinaire:
Guillaume and Jean-Baptiste, the founders, crossed paths on stage, embodying characters whose bond, akin to that of Orestes and Pylades, surpassed the confines of mere performance. Stirred by their mutual love for sports and deeply affected by Larcenet’s comic book “Le Combat Ordinaire,” they conceived the idea of establishing the Compagnie du Chemin Ordinaire. Their inaugural production served as an exploration of their artistic identity, blending vigor, physicality, intellectual precision, textual finesse, and movement with the aspiration to craft genuinely accessible theater. Following extensive travels spanning from Bangkok to Hanoi, via Troyes and Mantes-la-Jolie, they will be stopping at IFS in Singapore on Monday, 122 April 2024.
Do not miss this unique opportunity to witness the touching and vibrant life story of two inseparable friends.
