It is Back to School for IFS Students
The new school year started on Tuesday, 31st August on campus for all IFS students from Petite Section to Terminale.
IFS students went back to school Tuesday, 31st August, with a new Principal at the helm, Mr Hervé Lebarque.
At the start of the 2021-2022 school year, with Singapore still dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, all students could return to school, on-campus, following current government prescribed health protocols.
In his welcome message addressed to the IFS community, the new Principal Mr Hervé Lebarque said, “I am delighted to welcome you all at the beginning of the 2021/2022 school year… to all those joining IFS as new students, new parents, and new staff… I wish you all the best in settling in and blossoming in Singapore and, particularly, in IFS.”
Addressing IFS students, Mr Lebarque commented, “starting with our dear little ones who will discover the school and thus take an essential step in their lives. To their elders who are happy to meet their classmates and their new teachers. And finally, to the older ones who are getting ready to finish their studies with us before going to higher education. Allow me to wish you all, dear students, all the best for your success and personal development.”
On hand to welcome students with the Principal today were His Excellency Mr Marc Abensour, Ambassador of France to Singapore, Mr Anthony Chaumuzeau, Counsellor for Culture, Education and Science and Ms Sarah Bazir, Press Attaché.
Mr Abensour was shown around the secondary school campus by Mr Jean-Marc Deromedi, President, Executive Council and Mr Hervé Lebarque, IFS Principal.
They met with a class of 3ème and Terminale students and visited the “3C Library” (Knowledge and Culture Centre) and the new Tech Lab. They reviewed some of the embellishments and improvements done to the campus and its facilities completed over the summer holidays.
Mr Lebarque mentioned, “We start this school year with a total number of students in all the schools, very close to that of the same time last year.” The number of students enrolled for September 2021 is 2,800, divided into 130 classes from Petite Section to Terminale. More than 270 teachers from kindergarten to high school are also back to school.
At the start of the new school year, the students were able to discover the improvements and new features made during the summer. The youngest students admired the new-look Maternelle with renovated and redecorated areas, a playground extension, and a green corner.
The Elementary students found a brand-new climbing wall in the sports hall. The older students in Secondary school enjoy refurbished and redecorated science and preparation rooms and a new Tech Lab.
Finally, IFS will supply the 5ème and Seconde students (grades 7 and 10) with 500 brand new Chromebooks, augmenting and expanding our IT educational offering.
