The IFS Élémentaire (Grades 1-5) offers a strong foundation in academics (reading, writing, mathematics, French, English, Mandarin) and social skills, fostering respect in a multilingual international community. Subjects include French, English, Mandarin, Art, Music, PE, History, Geography, Science, and more. Guided by expert teachers, students develop critical skills at their own pace. IFS Élémentaire combines practical skills like observation and experimentation with abstract learning to build complex knowledge. Students develop critical academic abilities, particularly in history, geography, science, and technology, supported by oral, reading, writing, and listening activities. Daily writing practice and vocabulary-focused exercises enhance language proficiency, essential for learning across all subjects.
Science and technology lessons immerse students in the natural world through observation, questioning, and experiments. They tackle scientific concepts, learn technological applications, and adopt scientific approaches—formulating questions, testing hypotheses, and presenting conclusions.
By the end of Élémentaire, students master vital skills in mathematics, languages, and science, including reasoning, modelling, calculating, and effective communication, preparing them for future academic success.

Research shows bilingual children excel in problem-solving across verbal and nonverbal domains. IFS Élémentaire embraces this advantage, focusing on multilingual language development. The FLSco program supports students new to French, offering personalised lessons with qualified teachers. Similarly, English as a Foreign Language (EFL) support ensures tailored small-group learning for non-English-speaking students, fostering language proficiency.
For students fluent in French, the Classic Stream integrates English as a second language with 6.5 hours weekly, including 3 hours of English, 1.5 hours of EMILE, and 2 hours of sports in English. This immersive approach builds essential language skills such as curiosity, confidence, and communication, preparing students to engage meaningfully in multicultural contexts.
For advanced bilingual learners, the Anglais+ stream offers equal instruction in French and English. Alternating daily, the curriculum is co-taught by two teachers, ensuring balanced language exposure while exploring academic subjects. This parity fosters fluency, enabling students to navigate both languages seamlessly.
In addition to French and English, IFS includes Mandarin in the curriculum, offering 1 hour weekly.
