French Curriculum at IFS: A Structured Path to Academic Excellence for High School Students
A Rigorous Pathway to Academic Excellence
The French curriculum at IFS offers a structured and diverse education certified by the French Ministry of Education.
In Seconde (Grade 10), students explore a wide range of subjects, including literature, economics, and sciences, to identify their strengths and ambitions. With up to 35 hours of general classes weekly, they build a strong foundation for Lycée and the Bac.
Specialised subjects in Première (Grade 11) and Terminale (Grade 12) allow students to personalise their education, preparing for university and global opportunities.
Multilingual Excellence at IFS Lycée
At IFS Lycée (Grades 10–12), language immersion deepens students’ global understanding and cultural awareness, building on multilingual foundations from Élementaire and Collège.
Students can choose from three streams for English immersion:
- The Classic Stream offers 3 hours of English weekly;
- The SELO Section includes enhanced English or Mandarin instruction alongside an additional subject;
- And the International Section provides up to 9 hours of English instruction in Literature, History, and Geography, preparing students for the French International Baccalaureate (BFI).
Assessment in IFS Lycée (Grades 10–12)
The French Baccalauréat (Bac) is a globally recognised diploma marking the completion of Lycée (Grade 12) and is essential for university entry worldwide. Exams are taken over two years and reflect a rigorous curriculum valued for its depth and difficulty.
The French International Baccalauréate (BFI), offered to International Section students, highlights French-English bilingualism with exams in English Language, Literature, History, and Geography.
